HISTOIRES NATURELLES
Ene 31, 2018Natural history is seen through the inimitable prism of Christian Lacroix Maison. This season, we conjure an imaginary residence for a botanist who loves travelling to distant lands as much as he enjoys immersing himself in the famous works of 18th century French natural historians.
This obsession for natural history takes many forms; dream-drenched textiles and wallpapers with exotic imagery, impactful lines and serene skies all feature – culminating in the most sublime collection with unmistakeable Christian Lacroix references. Wallpapers include incredible panoramic panels and tactile flocked designs, all printed on heavy-weight non-woven grounds.
Extraordinary new textiles span inimitable digitally printed fabrics, glamorous embroideries, luxurious weaves and chic voiles – all of which embody signature Christian Lacroix style and brings to life, the modern jungle.
This romantic naturalist’s envisaged home is filled with precious collections of plants and flowers: from the shimmering flora of the ‘Babylonia Nights’ flocked wallpaper to the colourful ‘Geisha’ jacquard that resembles giant, multi-coloured lilies. Intriguing, flowering spheres clad in the ‘Herbarium’ print are contrasted by the iconic, striped ‘Cabanon’ velvet. Meanwhile, birds inhabit the walls, their plumage reflecting the sound of their own song in ‘Birds Sinfonia’. In another room, furniture boasts a rainbow of the ‘Arc-en-Ciel’ velvet stripes, mixed amongst the lush vegetation of the ‘Primavera Labyrinthum’ maze. In the panoramic dreamworld of ‘Jardin des Rêves’, the fantasy jungle takes form, whilst exuberant decaying orchids are embodied in the exquisite ‘Orchids Fantasia’ embroidery.
